  1. Added the 6 tiers (Normal–Epic): updated set property ranges, added a Healing Bonus row and per-tier value tables for each group, and described sub-level (I–V) effects and the armor mastery needed per tier.

In MyShard, armor is worn as a set, not piece by piece. There are three armor groups: Platemail, Leather and Cloth. Your weapon decides how you fight; your armor set decides your role: how tough you are, how much damage you deal and which abilities you can use on the R, D and F keys.

Three groups, three playstyles

Whichever group you choose, you can use it with any weapon. A Halberd wielder in Platemail can hold the line, while a Spellbook user in Cloth deals heavy damage from behind.

Putting on and taking off a set

  • Put on: double-click the set in your backpack. Chest, leggings, gorget, arms and gloves are all put on at once.
  • Take off: double-click the chest piece you're wearing. The set comes off and returns to your backpack as a single item.
  • In combat: you can't change sets during combat. Combat Time lasts 15 seconds against creatures and 30 seconds against players.
  • No mixing: pieces of different groups can't be combined; you wear one set at a time.
  • When you put on a set, that group's basic abilities are placed in the R, D and F slots.

Set properties

Sets come in six tiers: Normal, Ruin, Might, Force, Power and Epic. Sets get stronger with their tier. The values below show the range from Normal to Epic V:

  • PvP applies against players, PvM against creatures.
  • From Ruin to Epic, every tier has 5 sub-levels (I–V); Normal sets have no sub-levels. Each sub-level adds 5 Armor and a percentage bonus to Hits: I 0%, II 5%, III 11%, IV 16%, V 21%.
  • Out of combat, your health regenerates 150 and your mana 8 per second.
  • Sets have no weight and don't slow you down.

Values per tier

In the tables, the Armor column shows the range from sub-level I to V; the other values are the same within a tier.

Tier and mastery

To wear a set, your armor mastery in that group must have reached the set's tier:

Set tierNormalRuinMightForcePowerEpic
Armor mastery needed—23456

For example, a Force tier Leather set needs Leather mastery of at least 4. Normal sets need no mastery: you get your first one from the New Player Gift, and you can craft more from plain materials (iron ingot for Platemail, hide for Leather, cotton for Cloth). Armor mastery grows as you kill creatures while wearing the set. More in Levels and Experience.

Armor abilities

Each group has 12 abilities, split into three rows. You pick one ability from each row for its key:

  • R: abilities 1–4
  • D: abilities 5–8
  • F: abilities 9–12

The first ability of each row (1, 5 and 9) is open from the start; the others unlock as you progress in the game. You choose them with the Armor Aweakings button next to the skill bar.

What all armor abilities have in common:

  • Cooldown: 30 seconds
  • Cast time: instant
  • Mana: none
  • Charge: each use spends 1 charge of the group you're wearing. Your charge is shown in the Armor Aweakings window; without enough charge the ability is greyed out and can't be used.

In the tables below, ally means a party or guild member.

Which set should I choose?

  • New and want room for mistakes: Platemail. High health, armor and health regeneration keep you standing.
  • Love fast fights, chasing and escaping: Leather. Leaps and invisibility give you freedom of movement.
  • Want the highest damage and to support your team: Cloth. But mind your position; its toughness is low.

You can carry more than one set and switch depending on the situation, but you can't change sets in combat (while Combat Time is active), so pick your set before the fight. Remember that each group's mastery grows separately.
