Account and setup

Is my website account my game account?

Yes. You play with the account you create on the site: you log in to the website with your e-mail and to the game with your username. See Account and Setup.

The verification e-mail didn't arrive. What should I do?

Check your spam folder first. If it's not there, resend the verification e-mail.

I forgot my password.

Request a reset link by e-mail on the Forgot Password page.

Is the game free?

Yes, MyShard is free. Premium membership is optional and gives no combat power. See Premium Membership.

Getting started

What should I do first with a new character?

Your new character starts in the Start Area tutorial. Follow the tutorial window on the left: pick your Normal weapon and set from the New Player Gift, try your abilities, hunt your first creatures, gather resources, craft an item and take the Moongate to Britain. You can skip the tutorial if you like; you still get its rewards. Step by step: First Steps.

Which weapon should I pick?

Pick by playstyle: Dagger or Daisho for fast melee, Halberd or Maul for toughness; Heavy Crossbow or Spellbook for ranged damage; Wild Staff for healing. Each weapon's page shows its abilities.

Can other players attack me?

Outside safe zones, yes. Britain and Moonglow are not safe during their city wars (Saturday / Sunday); the Safe Zone is always free of PvP. New characters are under newbie protection for 48 hours after graduating from the tutorial. See Introduction to Combat.

Combat and progress

Doesn't my character have a level?

No. Every weapon, armor group, resource and profession has its own mastery level. See Levels and Experience.

Why can't I equip a stronger weapon?

The item's tier is higher than your mastery in that weapon type. The warning "Your weapon level is not sufficient for this." tells you so. Normal items need no mastery; Ruin needs mastery level 2, Might 3, Force 4, Power 5 and Epic 6.

Why can't I change my abilities?

Abilities and sets can't be changed during combat (while Combat Time is active). Wait for Combat Time to end.

How do my health and mana refill?

Out of combat your health regenerates 150 and your mana 8 per second. In combat, use potions and healing abilities.

Do I lose my items when I die?

Your items drop into your corpse. If you're resurrected before the corpse disappears, you get them back; otherwise others can loot it. The Kumbara doesn't drop on death.

Economy

How do I earn gold?

The fastest ways are the monthly Achievements and the Quest Keeper's 3 daily quests in Britain (2,000–10,000 gold per quest depending on your tier). Hunting creatures, gathering and selling items you craft also earn gold.

Where do I get my gear?

Most weapons and sets are made by players. Gather your own materials and craft, or buy from players who craft. See Crafting.

Support

Can I call a GM in game?

No, there's no in-game GM call or messaging. All support is provided through Discord and support tickets.

I found a bug.

Don't use it; report it right away. How: Reporting Bugs.

How do I report a player?

Open a support ticket and pick the Complaint / Report category; add what happened, when, and a screenshot if you have one. The rules: Server Rules.
