  1. 6 tiers (Normal–Epic): ability values updated, tiers/mastery section and Normal Heavy Crossbow recipe added.

With a 16-tile range, the Heavy Crossbow reaches further than any other weapon. It stands and aims for very high damage shots and controls the area with traps and mines. In exchange, it can't shoot while moving; you need to pick your position well.

The Heavy Crossbow's abilities are on the cards at the end of the page; hover over one to see its description, mana, range and times. Pick one from each row with Weapon Aweakings.

Ability damage and healing grow with your weapon's tier; the cards list all 6 tiers in order: Normal / Ruin / Might / Force / Power / Epic.

Tiers and mastery

  • The Heavy Crossbow comes in 6 tiers: Normal, Ruin, Might, Force, Power, Epic. Normal has no sub-levels; every tier from Ruin to Epic has sub-levels I–V, which raise ability values by +0% / +10% / +20% / +30% / +40%.
  • Your Heavy Crossbow mastery grows with the experience you earn while wielding it, from level 1 (Normal) to 6 (Epic). A Normal Heavy Crossbow needs no mastery; equipping Ruin needs level 2, Might 3, Force 4, Power 5 and Epic 6.
  • Experience needed for the next level: 5,000 / 22,000 / 68,000 / 185,000 / 500,000.
  • Normal Heavy Crossbow recipe (Carpentry): 24 Log. Higher tiers need 48 Logs of that tier (e.g. Ruin Log) plus 1 Bow Mastery Book, and your Carpentry mastery must have reached that tier. Catalysts drop from creatures of that tier.
  • New characters can pick a Normal weapon from the New Player Gift at the start.

Stand and aim

  • You need to stand still for 1 second before a normal attack.
  • Quick Attack, Fast Arrow and abilities with a cast time (Armor Piercer, Silencer Arrow, Arrow Rain, Harpoon) are cancelled by moving.
  • Stationary Bomb and Expo Mine are placed on the ground and trigger when the first enemy steps on them; you can place them and move away.

Combos

  • Long-range takedown: shred armor with Armor Piercer → deal huge damage and slow with Harpoon.
  • Area defense: place Stationary Bomb and Expo Mine on choke points; rain Arrow Rain on enemies that come through.
  • Against casters: silence the area with Silencer Arrow; it stops spells with a cast time.

Tips

  • Leave yourself room to escape; you can't shoot the moment you move.
  • Stationary Bomb also speeds you up when it triggers; use it to get away from danger.
  • Harpoon has a 2.5 second cast; use it when the target is slowed or stunned.
