Recent Updates
- City roles updated; added the Start Area, Safe Zone, Hub/Pazar and Infernal; the Lost Lands are the former Fire Island. New hunting-areas-by-tier table; Britain is not safe during the Saturday city war.
MyShard is set in Britannia, Ultima Online's classic world. The cities, roads and dungeons you know are all there, but most of the game's life gathers in a few main cities and around them.
Main cities and regions
| Place | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Start Area | The tutorial area where every new character starts. It is a safe zone; when you finish (or skip) the tutorial you move on to Britain. See First Steps. |
| Britain | The main city and safe centre: bank, Healer, Stable, vendors (Provisioner, Alchemist, Deed Seller), the crafting quarter (Blacksmithing, Tailoring, Leatherworking and Carpentry stations), Moongate, Island Keeper, Quest Keeper and a merchant (NPC buyer). Every Saturday guilds fight for the Britain city stone. |
| Moonglow | The city of magic: crafting stations, Alchemist, merchant and Moongate. Every Sunday guilds fight for the Moonglow city stone. |
| Ocllo | The city of nature and fishing: Seedsman, Farmer, Fisher Story and a merchant who buys fish and crops. See Island and Farm. |
| Safe Zone | The neutral meeting place in Nujel'm; truly safe, with no PvP. It has a banker and a merchant. |
| Hub | The player centre with the Arena, Guild and Bomberman stones; a safe zone. Its Pazar square is where you return after Arena matches and guild wars. |
| Lost Lands | Formerly Fire Island. A frontier region open to PvP, home of Epic hunting and resources. |
| Infernal | New players' Ruin hunting area; reached for free by Moongate. |
Britain, Moonglow, Ocllo and the Lost Lands each have three points where the Moongate can drop you. See Travelling by Moongate. City wars: Guild System.
Safe zones
Players can't target each other in safe zones:
- Britain city centre; magic doesn't work here either. Warning: while the Saturday Britain city war is running, Britain is not safe.
- The Safe Zone (Nujel'm)
- The Start Area and the Hub (including Pazar)
- Player islands; magic doesn't work on islands either. See Island and Farm.
Everywhere else is open to PvP. See Introduction to Combat.
Hunting areas
Creatures and gathering resources are laid out in rings by tier; the further you go from the city, the higher the tier.
| Tier | Area |
|---|---|
| Normal | The farms around Britain |
| Ruin | Britain's northern forest and mines, Infernal |
| Might | The wilds of Yew and Minoc, orc sites |
| Force | Destard, Shame, the Destard swamps |
| Power | Fire Dungeon, Ice Dungeon, Hythloth |
| Epic | The Lost Lands; the bosses in Despise and Deceit |
Gathering resources (Rock, Logs, Cotton, Hides) follow the same rings. See Levels and Experience.
Dungeons
| Dungeon | Note |
|---|---|
| Infernal | New players' Ruin hunting area; reached directly and for free by Moongate. |
| Destard | Force. Entered through the teleporter at its entrance. |
| Shame | Force. Entered through the teleporter at its entrance. |
| Fire Dungeon | Power. Entered through the teleporter at its entrance. |
| Ice Dungeon | Power. Entered through the teleporter at its entrance. |
| Despise | Epic bosses. Entered through the teleporter at its entrance. |
- Discovering dungeons for the first time advances the World category of Achievements.
- Dungeon exit teleporters don't work during combat.
- A private dungeon you enter alone: Solo Dungeon.
Using the map
- The N key opens the world map, M the radar map.
- Click the city icons on the world map to open the city window.
- When you enter a city, its name appears on screen as a banner.
Tips
- If you're new, don't stray too far from Britain; the safe zone, the crafting quarter and the Moongate are close by.
- Use the Moongate for long trips; it's much faster and safer than walking between cities.
- Watch the players around you once you leave a safe zone, especially in the Lost Lands.
